As the TL front-end developer, your job responsibilities will be to manage the front-end development team, define project architecture, ensure good coding practices, engage with stakeholders, and deliver high quality user interfaces. You will also be responsible for mentoring the team members and managing the project timelines.
A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is generally preferred. However, significant experience in front-end development, proven leadership skills and strong portfolio of managing front-end projects are required for this role.
Strong leadership, effective communication and problem solving skills are the main soft skills required. You must be able to effectively manage and motivate a team, collaborate with other departments, and meet project deadlines. Additionally, decision-making and conflict resolution skills are important in leadership positions.
As a team leader in front-end development department, you will be expected to have proficiency in frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.JS, as well as in-depth knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and related libraries, knowledge of version control tools as Git, continuous integration (CI) processes, and agile processes.
Most companies require a minimum of 7-10 years of front-end development experience, including several years in a leadership or supervisory role. You must have experience in leading teams and a track record of successfully delivering complex front-end projects.
Certification in front-end frameworks (e.g; React, Angular), UX/UI design, or project management methodologies (e.g; Agile, Scrum) is highly beneficial. Leadership certifications can also add value in an area where team management is key.
As a team leader you can progress to senior management roles such as front-end development manager, technical director, or CTO, depending on your preferred career path, and there is also the possibility of technical architect roles if you want to focus on development strategies.
Team Lead Front-End Developer salaries typically range from rupees 8 lakh* to 22.5 lakh* rupees per year, depending on location, company size, and your previous employment experience in the leadership roles and projects.
