Team Lead UI/UX Designer Job Overview

At the position of Team Lead UI/UX Designer, you will manage end to end designing processes which also entails setting up a timeline for other designers, creating templates, working with product and development teams, applying user-focused design solutions, and finally, leading the design department.

As a TL UI/UX designer, in addition to making decisions about deliverables, there are other skill sets necessary such as mentoring design teams, giving performance evaluations or critique to clients, and encouraging team collaboration as the main skillsets required. When it comes to project timelines, as a UI/UX TL, you will lay down project milestones and deadlines that your team is expected to follow. You will also contact other departments including product, development and marketing to ensure the design is in line with the design objectives and assist in the appropriate assigning of tasks and distribution of workload.

Understanding advanced design methodologies and practices such as design thinking, lean UX or agile design process is important. You shall be able to apply these frameworks so that you create userful and marketable designs that achieve their purpose efficiently.
