Duties and responsibilities

  • Advanced Linux System Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to Linux servers, workstations and applications.
  • Operating System Installation & Configuration: Install, configure and manage Linux operating systems in various environments, ensuring system stability and performance.
  • User Account Management: Administer user accounts, permissions and access control for secure and efficient system usage.
  • Software Installation & Maintenance: Install, configure and maintain a variety of software applications on Linux servers, ensuring compatibility and security.
  • End-User Support: Provide technical support to users, resolving hardware, software and network issues in a timely manner.
  • System Security: Implement, configure, and manage security policies, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems to safeguard Linux infrastructure.
  • System Updates & Patching: Regularly manage system updates, patches and Linux application upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, perform tuning and make recommendations for performance improvements.
  • Automation: Develop and maintain scripts for automation and system management tasks.

Required skills and experience

  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience in Linux administration.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation.
  • Solid understanding of networking services and protocols (e.g., DNS, DHCP, SSH).
  • Familiarity with system monitoring, performance tuning, and backup/recovery tools.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and best practices, including firewalls and antivirus solutions.
